Superconductors with record performance for magnetic field applications

Ismaning, August 27, 2021 - After two years of intensive development, THEVA has introduced a new high-temperature superconductor (HTS) wire type of its Pro-Line product group. Embedded nanoparticles increase the magnetic field strength by more than double, so that higher fields can be achieved in more compact magnetic coils. The conductor thus surpasses all conventional superconductors used to date and also the first-generation (1G) high-temperature superconductors. It thus opens up completely new perspectives for the realization and use of high magnetic fields in research and technology. THEVA celebrates 25th anniversary and closes financing round

Ismaning, 20th August, 2021 - THEVA celebrates its 25th anniversary this summer. Founded as an early spin-off of the Technical University of Munich in 1996, today THEVA is one of the longest-standing and most successful companies active in the field of high-temperature superconductors (HTS) and the only European manufacturer of high-quality HTS wire for magnet technology and electrical engineering. Far beyond the production of materials, THEVA is also actively promoting the use of superconductors for the climate-friendly transition of power technology. Just in time for its birthday, THEVA has successfully closed its fifth financing round with its existing shareholders. The investors are eCAPITAL, Bayern Kapital, Target Partners, Bayerische Beteiligungsgesellschaft (BayBG) and members of the management. The manufacturer of high-temperature superconductors is thus preparing for the first large volume orders from the sector of magnet technology and assembling a growth financing round. EUCAS 2021

The biannual European conference of applied superconductivity (EUCAS) will unfortunately not take place in Moscow, but will be held as a virtual conference this year. From September 5th to September 9th, current topics from the fields of materials, electronics and large scale applications will be discussed. THEVA participates with a virtual exhibition booth and will present recent developments and news within 3 talks in the "Materials" and "Large scale" sessions. Transmit Kilowatts contactlessly with superconducting coils

A team at the Technical University of Munich and Würth Elektronik designed a coil with superconducting wires from THEVA to transmit power of more than 5 kW contactless. The wide range of conceivable applications includes autonomous industrial robots, medical equipment, vehicles and even aircraft. SuperLink cable project started

It's official: THEVA will be part of a 5-headed consortium to develop and prepare a 12 km long superconducting cable in the city of Munich. Within the 2-year timeframe of the project called "SuperLink", all cable components will be tested (superconductor, cable and cooling). Consequently, a 12 km long superconducting high voltage cable will be realized. Further information may be found in our press release

ISS 2020 Conference

The 33rd International Symposium on Superconductivity (ISS 2020) will be held from December 1st to 3rd in Tsukuba, Japan. Due to the current situation, the conference will be held both on-site and virtual. Therefore, we are happy to announce that THEVA's Markus Bauer will give a presentation about "Recent progress of REBCO coated conductors at THEVA".
