Virtual ASC 2020

2020-11-13T12:57:33+01:00September 25th, 2020|

Due to the ongoing worldwide situation, the organization commitee of ASC conference decided to go virtual. Presentations and discussions will be streamed in different timezones between Oktober 24th and November 7th. THEVA wants to support this by giving an oral presentation about recent developments in our coated conductors production within one of the materials sessions. You can find further information about the virtual ASC conference on the conference website.

THEVA reaches record performance in HTS tapes

2020-08-14T12:21:59+02:00July 31st, 2020|

Ismaning, 31st July, 2020: THEVA has succeeded in doubling the current carrying capacity of its Pro-Line superconductors. In test series on production lines, standard processes were used to produce tape conductors over more than 400 m long, which carry more than 1000 A transport current at 12 mm width and 75 μm thickness, which corresponds to a current density of 1100 A/mm². The record level was even 1350 A, i.e. 1500 A/mm², under standard measuring conditions in liquid nitrogen at 77 K (-196°C). You can find futher information in our press release.

New FastGrid Newsletter available

2020-07-27T13:51:45+02:00July 27th, 2020|

FASTGRID should have ended by the end of June 2020, but COVID-19 nearly completely stopped all activities which are mainly experimental at the end of the project. To be able to finish all activities which are currently in progress, the project was extended by 5 months. The current project status is described in the 5th FastGrid Newsletter which can be downloaded on the project's website.

Superconducting Fault Current Limiters explained

2020-04-20T11:35:20+02:00April 20th, 2020|

Within the EU-Horizon-2020 projekt "FastGrid", THEVA supports the development of a superconducting fault current limiter for high voltage applications. The project team recently created and published a short video explaining the working principle and the advantages of using high temperature superconductors for fault current limiting. You can find the video at the project-website fastgrid-h2020.eu or directly on Vimeo.

THEVA introduces Stock List

2020-06-15T14:08:21+02:00March 13th, 2020|

Beginning in February 2020, THEVA started offering a new service: We collect HTS tapes remaining from bigger orders in a special stock list. These superconductors are being measured, sorted and prepared for shipping. As a result, we can ship the tapes on short notice. This is especially interesting for educational and research institutions with limited time and budget. As we have a range of product types, piece lengths and qualities in this stock, we can provide superconductors for diverse applications. Use this opportunity and contact us. We are happy to check our stock list for suitable pieces for your application.

ZIEHL VII

2020-04-23T10:52:57+02:00February 20th, 2020|

The German industry association superconductivity (ivSupra) will host the 7th ZIEHL conference in Berlin from 5th to 6th March 2020. The conference focuses on future and innovation in energy technology enabled by high temperature superconductivity. Speakers from industry and politics present and discuss current superconductor activities and projects, including topics with THEVA participation: an induction heater (RoWaMag project), the superconducting wind power generator (EcoSwing project) as well as the superconducting high voltage cable planned for the city of Munich. The schedule and registration is available at https://ivsupra.de/ziehl/ (German). THEVA is founding member of ivSupra and supports the event as a sponsor.

FastGrid Newsletter #4

2019-11-22T13:00:55+01:00November 22nd, 2019|

EU Horizon 2020 project "FastGrid" has the goal to develop a superconductor for the use in a high voltage Fault-Current-Limiter. The current project status and reached milestones are communicated through newsletters. In the 4th newsletter the development of a new hot spot detection technique using optical fibers by EPFL is highlighted. This innovation is a significant game changer allowing a speedy and extremely simple detection of even a single hotspot in the tape within 10 ms. It can be used in a wide range of superconducting applications. The 4th FastGrid Newsletter can be downloaded here: https://www.fastgrid-h2020.eu/en/News-list-with-fastgrid-news-36,269.html
