Nuclear fusion has gained lots of traction in the past years. Superconductors are one of the enabling technologies

There are many different concepts for fusion generators, one of them being the stellarator. One test reactor which is a stellarator is “Wendelstein 7-X”. Paul Huslage from Max-Planck Institute in Garching with his team used its geometry for a superconducting coil model which he 3D-printed. This model was then filled with THEVA superconductors to prove the feasibility of such a geometry for HTS.
